CASE STUDY

Create Content for fundraising, social media, website and presentations

Client Profile

Village Impact (VI) provides access to community-led education, leadership, and economic opportunities for thousands of children in rural Kenya. They have a team of 10 – split between North America and Kenya.

Annual Fundraising

$1 Million

Challenges

Village Impact needed fresh content to showcase their achievements to current and prospective major donors. Plus, a few major donors needed emotionally-moving material to help promote Village Impact to their own audiences.

On-hand photography and multimedia content was limited and outdated. Village Impact needed fresh visual content for use in multiple communication channels but, internally, lacked the skills to create it on their own.

Solution

Mark learned about Village Impact’s mission, projects underway, successes and ambitions. With clear content goals, he then spent 4 days in Kenya documenting school life, construction projects, and day-to-day living conditions in the communities being served.

Mark also mentored VI provided hands-on guidance to in-the-field staff, including nightly critiques and feedback sessions.

Outcome

Within 10 days of his return, Mark delivered a broad collection of professionally-edited photographs and, later, a professionally edited 60-page table-top book, to be distributed to members of VI’s board of directors and major donors.  The photographs were used in Village Impact’s annual report, end-of-year campaign, website, donor communications, social media, direct mail initiatives, thank you cards, press kits, media packages, fundraising presentations, and more. The table-top book and new photos have received very positive donor feedback ... inspiring testimonials and continued donor participation. And, in-the-field staff are now creating publication-worthy content on their own.
